A good book. I liked the idea of Headology, gender being performative, etc.
Almost didn't read this book because The Color of Magic was so bad.

Good conclusion. Generally I feel it looks up to the military too highly and pins to much blame on government corruption, that seems unrealistic. And while it does touch briefly on the rich, it doesn't identify money as a source of trouble.
So the first book was a bit unfocused, the second book fixed that made a cohesive story. This third book is complete chaos, bland characters that do nothing, too many characters, none of the characters interact with each other.
It seems like the book wants to explore communism and how it is incompatible with capital... but it isn't very clear, since so much nothing happens.
Where the first book felt sorta unorganized and random, this one felt focused on just two characters with, imo, very relatable marginalized, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA-esque experiences
To me the book's chapters feel like episodes from a 90s tv show. Each episode/vignette kinda disconnected from the others, yet it somehow works. Kinda reminds me of Firefly, if there were more than humans, and the protagonists were not outlaws, just working class.
A good book, though I would have rather it focused less on Laurence, I didn't really like him as a main character. I would have liked more of Patricia, much more of Peregrine. And it could use an epilogue or something at the end.
