Review of 'Contact' on 'Goodreads'

The ending to this book absolutely floored me. The story seemed to take a while to get going, but once it did about half way through, it was amazing. I love reading a classic, and agree 100% that is should be classic. This should be required reading in high school.

Stanisław Lem: Solaris (Hardcover, German language, 1997, Claassen Verlag)

The cult-classic by Stanislaw Lem that spawned the movie is now available for your Kindle! …

Review of 'Solaris' on 'Goodreads'

Solaris is a great psychological thriller. A refreshing change from the other worldliness of The God of Light. It's was a quick read, for the exception of when the main character was off in the library. I feel light so many books has its filler material, well this one was obvious. Either way, I really enjoyed this read and it really got me thinking.

I feel like this is a great book, but so much of it is lost on me due to my ignorance of Hindu gods. I did enjoy it very much, and parts of it was like a guided meditation. I plan on rereading this again once I am more fluent with Hindu and the Buddha.

Review of 'Gateway' on 'Goodreads'

A solid sci-fi classic, but not my favorite. The plot was decent, and the characters developed well. However, I just didn't like the main character. I was going to read the full Heechee series, but I think I will move on the the next sci-fi book on my list.

Alfred Bester: The Stars My Destination (1996, Vintage Books)

The Stars My Destination is a science fiction novel by American writer Alfred Bester. Set …

Review of 'The Stars My Destination' on 'Goodreads'

What a truly entertaining and thought provoking book. The true testament of a science fiction book is it's staying power. This book is 60 years old and is still entertaining and relevant, even though we do not live in the mutually assured destruction of the cold water any more. If you enjoy science fiction, you should put this on your list.

Philip K. Dick: The man in the high castle (1992, Vintage Books)

The Man in the High Castle is an alternate history novel by American writer Philip …

Review of 'The man in the high castle' on 'Goodreads'

I didn't even start following the plot until a third into the book. The plot didn't even get going until 2/3rds in. I didn't really care about most the characters. And the plot fizzled out and had no impact on the world. The ending was so lame, it's akin to "and then I awoke from a dream."

Robin Hobb: Assassin's Quest (The Farseer Trilogy, Book 3) (Paperback, 1998, Spectra)

From an extraordinary new voice in fantasy comes the stunning conclusion to the Farseer trilogy, …

Review of "Assassin's Quest (The Farseer Trilogy, Book 3)" on 'Goodreads'

This trilogy is my one of my top fantasy series now. I will miss greatly spending time with FitzChivalry, Nighteyes, the Fool, and all the other characters in the book. If you are a fan of fantasy novels, the Farseer Trilogy should be the next one on your list.
