Ben Waber reviewed The Trouble with White Women by Brittney C. Cooper
An Illuminating History
5 stars
Schuller provides a powerful historical review and criticism of US feminism, demonstrating how white feminists have repeatedly sacrificed the rights of others to obtain more power and privilege for themselves, continuing to the modern day with TERFs. As with most gender studies books there are some non-sequitur criticisms of capitalism (really neoliberalism, but this is only sometimes made explicit). Regardless, the history alone is worth the price of entry - it ties so many threads in feminist history together that I haven't seen matched in any academic work. The criticism is also profound, compelling, and depressing. Highly recommend
