Ben Waber reviewed African Founders by David Hackett Fischer
A Completely Average History
3 stars
This is a conventional but thorough review of the history of Africans and their descendants in the US through emancipation. This book would be at home in the 90s, with much of the analysis dated and the history filtered through positive, rose-colored glasses. This is particularly egregious with the treatment of slaveholders who played prominent roles in US history. There is a good collection of stats on slavery itself, so if you're looking to do some research on the topic you can probably find sources here
